Editor, Automotive Group

Job Summary:

Responsible for organizing the creation of editorial content and the publishing process for applicable brands. Supervise managing and associate editors.

Primary Objectives:

Develop, execute, and evaluate the news/editorial content and interactive projects and features, to produce high quality web portal and print publications that maintain readership and secure advertiser support.


  • Generate content for assigned print and online brands.

  • Work with internal and contracted sources, as well as industry partners and research organizations, to direct print and digital content.

  • Lead editorial team to meet group deadlines and objectives.

  • Direct monthly print publications — Gather content from contributors/create original content, enter text into design platform, work with production on folio creation, work with designer on page creation, edit designed pages, provide final approval     

  • Develop editorial topics/direction — Work with team, contributors and industry to create an annual editorial calendar that garners readership and advertiser support. Adjust coverage and direction as needed based on real-time industry trends.

  • Monitor the budget — Develop annual editorial budget, make adjustments as needed and oversee invoice submissions and approvals

  • Create digital products — Develop digital newsletters and alerts, promote content on social media           

  • Supervise freelancers — Recruit new and/or maintain existing relationships with contributors

  •  Create content — Maintain website and print publications through press releases and original

  •  Manage editorial team — Oversee tasks of associate and/or managing editors on the brands,      


Core Competencies:

Communications skills, emotional intelligence, supervising others, manage performance, delegation, problem solving, time management.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced environment.

  • At least five years of relevant experience with print/digital media production.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple assignments.


Equivalent Education / Experience:

B.A. Or B.S. Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or Public Relations


Special Job Dimensions:

Some travel required.


Supervisory Responsibility:

Oversee associate and managing editors on applicable brands.


Work Environment:

Remote or in office work station, depending on location.
